Charley came home from school with a birthday invite today.
It is for a nice local park (the park has a skateboarding area).
The invite asks kids to bring skateboards....
What's your opinion on a first grade birthday party that involves skateboarding at a skate park?
Trying not to indicate my opinion of this party. I want your honest opinion.

My knowledge of age appropriate activities for kids maxes out at age 3. Can 1st graders safely skateboard by themselves? I assume you'd be dropping him off so the birthday boy's parent(s) would be supervising quite a few boys. Seems like chaos to me. Am curious to hear what you think!
Skateboarding for 1st graders, um no. Hayden wanted a skate board this past winter, we said not yet. I think if your child already knows how to skateboard great, fine. But for us, a skateboard party invite in 1st grade would have been a no, simply because he wouldn't know how. I would think only half at best would know how to skateboard.
I think a scooter in a cul-de-sac would be better. Skateboarding in a public skatepark...? That calls for older kids and older language, older tricks....not unless the mom is letting them skate on flat ground if there's a spot by the ramps? IDK!
We had a second grade party at skateville and that was chaos. I think we sometimes forget that just because our kids know how to do an activity, it doesn't mean that is something that their friends are doing. Luckily I had 3 moms and an older sibling stay to help. So I think outside at a free location would be even more crazy! I would stay if I said yes to the party.
Seems kind of extreme for a 1st grade party to me!
