Not Me Monday

Not Me Monday...
I used to post these every Monday. And then the gal that lead the link up thingy stopped. I have noticed she has posted periodically but not sure if it is a regular thing anymore. Anyways..I had a few thoughts today...and I always liked these posts...they looked at life with humor and often times made you realize how normal being "real" was.

So here goes...

On Friday night I didn't attempt to post this facebook status update - nope not me...

"Ed is getting us take out tonight. I insisted he order at the restaurant so he could enjoy a beer while he waits. I hope he enjoys his moment before he returns home to our hyped up house. This weekend, I hope I get one moment or six."

But instead of that, it posted this...

Hahaha! Luckily, I noticed right away and took it down. Damn, auto correct.

This mama has almost mastered a homemade oatmeal that the boys like, instead of the instant variety.  But this mama does not add chocolate chips to lure the boys into trying it.  Nope, not me.

The tribe is whole again with Charley home from school today. Love that.

Syd has a runny nose and Henry is consistently waking at 5:30...so we will take it slow and everyone will be in bed by 6:30...I hope. 

Not Me Monday

This weekend we traveled north for an overnight at Grandmas...and I am so organized - I would never forget diapers and the pack and play.  Nope, not me!

We traveled because my niece Morgan turned 1.  I was pumped about the gift we were giving - and being the first birthday...I would of course wrap it adorably so that when millions of pictures are snapped the package compliments that cute little face.   I would never wrap it in this gift bag:

For the last three weeks I have told Ed mid/late week that on Monday I would get going on working out again.  When Monday rolls around I don't ignore it and go about my day - making excuses...even when I know I feel better and am happier when I sweat a little each day.  Not me!

I am hosting my side of the family this coming weekend for Easter.  Charley has a playdate this afternoon and while they play I could totally get a ton done around the house...but I wander aimlessly - wasting this free time to get things done.  And instead, I will have trouble sleeping and stress until the end of the week to get everything done.  Nope, I am not a procrastinator, not me!   I am more on top of using my time wisely.

"Not Me" Monday

 

On Friday I packed up the car, buckled my boys in, and was all geared up to head out on our journey to my parents. I turned the key - and nothing. So I called two girl friends for support. I figured between the three of us we could figure out how to jump it. It didn't take me 5 minutes to figure out how to pop the hood on my car. Nope, not me.

I don't buckle my boys in the car and not let them out for 6 hours...on our way to Grandmas! Nope, Not Me! That would be mean and cruel. (Actually, they are totally content and I am so blessed to have boys that travel so well.)

When I visit my parents - I don't take advantage of my mom. When the boys wake I don't shoo them out to her and lay in bed longer and sleep or read or putter around on my computer. Nope, not me.

My husband went out and purchased a new washer and dryer for us yesterday. We had shopped around awhile back and were just waiting to take advantage of the state rebate program thingy. While I am at my parents he went and took care of it. So when I return I will have a quiet, beautiful partner in my daily laundry escapades. We are supposed to head home on Tuesday or Wednesday - but I am tempted to head home today, just so I can do the first load....Nope, not me, laundry wouldn't tempt me.

"Not Me" Monday & "Not My Kid" Monday

This week's 'Not Me' Monday post dates back to a time when we had only one child...Little Charley was 2.  Back then I wouldn't lose my patience with my husband and use inappropriate language, Nope, Not me!  

When Charley was 2 1/2 Ed had to drop his van off at one of those quick fix car places. We followed him there in my car -thinking we would leave Ed's van there to get fixed. He ran in and said it would take 10 minutes. So Charley and I stayed in the car....10 minutes turned into 15....15 turned into 20. I called Ed on his cell to ask him what was going on. He said they wanted to look at it quick and go over what the issue was before he left. 40 minutes later Ed's van is pulled out of the garage stall thingy and is parked in front of our van. No, I wasn't getting impatient and cranky, Not me!

Charley says, "Mama, that looks like daddy's car."

I reply, "Yes, it is."

Charley then asks, "Where is daddy?" It has been 45 minutes now.

So I respond, and let it be known I regretted it immediately, "He is in the fricken car shop." Those were my exact words. Nope, I didn't lose my patience and use/imply very inappropriate language, Not me!

Charley replied, "I want to go in the fricken car shop." He thought the car shop was called Fricken Car Shop. I tried not to laugh.

Two weeks later we had to rent a car for some other reason. Charley was at an age where he enjoyed playing in the car...pretending to drive etc. So he and I went out to play 'car.' During the play, my child didn't say: "Mama, you stay here. I need to go in to the Fricken car shop." Nope, not my kiddo!

Lesson to be learned....be very careful what you say around a two year old...they are listening.

"Not Me" Monday

   
 I was not super excited that the Vikings lost the big game yesterday.....even though I live in Minnesota.  Even though I had many friends psyched for a win. Nope, a dedicated Green Bay Packer fan I am not!  Not me! 
Last week I wore jeans when I dropped Charley off at a friends.  I didn't head  home and put on my cozy pants and later pick him up in the cozy pants.  My friend didn't notice that I changed because, "you don't wear jeans all that much."  Nope, I don't own just one pair of jeans that fit me comfortably right now, Not me!

We did not put our boys to bed at 6:50 on Saturday night so we could begin our "date night."

  I do not leave laundry in both the washer and dryer too long.  Causing me to rewash the clothes in the washer from time to time.  And letting things sit in the dryer causes them to wrinkle...I do not then take them and make a mounding pile on our couch...leaving them even more wrinkled.  Which means, my husband would have to iron his work pants and shirts EVERY MORNING.  Nope, that's not me.  I would of course be more on top of the laundry situation in our house so that my husband could sleep an extra 10 minutes.

I do not physically ache when I see life changing before my eyes....like in these photos.  Nope, seeing my boys grow up is not a big deal to me.  Not, me!
