Who can stand to eat like this...with the gooey melting ice cream slowly drip dropping down the side of your hand?
A TWO YEAR OLD.
My two year old, Henry.
And as a mama - I could easily have said, "Nope, let's not go there. It will be Waaaay too messy."
But by saying yes, I am given a moment to watch him totally enthralled and enjoying this summer treat.
My own ice cream cone tasted 10 times better enjoying it beside this little man.
He is joy.
He is ready for a fun summer of sticky fingers and a sticky belly.
And he has a mama who is vowing to say YES to a lot of summer adventures that might be too sticky or sandy or muddy or silly.
YES!
And once in a while I am so proud of the moment I capture with my camera.
So let's reflect...
Say yes to a summer treat and smile!

What adorable little munchkins you have. It's wonderful that you take the time to enjoy even the messy things of childhood. When my daughter was small I tried to follow the advice of Chuck Swindoll. He said parents should say "yes" as often as possible, instead of the instinctive "no" that often comes out first. My daughter had "camping" nights under a dining table, with a bedsheet suspended from the chandelier, picnics on quilts in the backyard, when it was too hot to move, to name a few of her "yes" adventures... and plenty of snow-cones in the summertime. Now that she's grown, I'm so glad I didn't rush her through childhood's brief season. I so enjoyed this post. It brought back many memories.
Adorable. I love dip-tops, which melt really fast no matter what you do, so sometimes, even though I am 47, I still eat ice cream just like that!
Love it! Joy like only a child can know! :) I totally agree with you on the trying to say "yes" more although it is not always the easiest thing to do.
I have just started a weekly post on 25 tips for Positive Discipline as outlined in the book "Attached at the Heart". I will be covering #8. Create a 'yes' environment next week. I'd love to have you stop by and check it out.
Have a great day! www.stanwoodplayschool.com
P.S - Your boys are adorable! Somehow I forgot to mention that first! :)
Love that Henry was so engrossed in it that he didn't care.
Gotta love warm weather in May.
So cute!
I don't mind letting my boys do things that I know will be messy. It's worth it to see their smiles.
Adorable! And I love how you enjoyed the moment! Love it!
And is this bad, but I so want to say...Look what Kate Gosselin missed when she had a cow in Disney world with her ice cream eating kiddos!
