And his social life begins...

Today Charley got two things in the mail! Both birthday invitations! He has only been to his family friend McKenna's birthday parties! So this is a big deal for both him and me. They are both on Saturdays in November and we are scheduled to be home at this point. YAY! I need to find out if it is a drop off party or if I am expected to hang out..either way it is fun! I can see this could get out of control with his neighborhood friends, family friends, and school friends....

Any parents out there that have any advice? How do you deal with all the parties? All the gifts? How do you say no if you already have other obligations (not to the birthday child but to your child!)? So interested in what you have to say!

Sometimes I will leave them at a party, but it depends how well I know the parents, where it is at, etc. I am known to be the only parent that stays but I am a little overprotective! If it is at a public place where more than just the party can be, I have anxiety b/c when you have a lot of kids mixed in with a lot of other kids (chuckie cheese for example) I feel like no one is really watching my little girl.

If I know we can't make the party sometimes I don't even tell them about it. It is just easier. :)

I have only been to parties where the parents stay at this point. It's social for the parents too :) I stick to a small budget when buying birthday gifts, otherwise it gets out of control! I don't usually show Gavin/Anna the invites until I know we can go for sure, and I actually don't tell them we are going until the day of.
