The task I hate MOST... besides washing floors, putting away laundry, and cleaning bathrooms...would be unloading the dishwasher. It is my least favorite thing in the whole world...probably because it has to be done at least once a day.
I'd also rather fill it than empty it.
For a long time I had the boys going on doing the emptying.
But, now I try to embrace the task myself while they are all busy doing something else, usually together.
The issue I am having lately is that I can't seem to get on the right cycle.
The counter is mounded all day with dishes because I avoid unloading...and therefore the dishes pile up. I then run it in the afternoon and by dinner it is still full or whatever.
The dish pile basically is so large that even at night when we fill and run it there is still a mound of dishes. Waking up to a messy kitchen is not a great way to start the day.
Weekly, I make a goal of making sure this task is completed before I crawl into bed.
I am a happier and calmer mama in the morning when I come down to a clean kitchen.
But at night, I am tired. Kids need tending. And when they are finally tucked in...I am done.
This evening I got the dishwasher unloaded and loaded part way. There was plenty of room for our dinner dishes. And I am SO FREAKING EXCITED. I feel like I won first prize! The stars aligned and tomorrow morning I can come down to a mostly clean kitchen. There are a few pots that need washing because I made mashed potatoes. But! The counters are cleaned up.
Syd loves to get her stool and unload the silverware.
I hope that she always enjoys unloading with me...both the dishwasher and everything else going on in her life! Maybe it can be our special time to chat....not likely. But a mama can hope!
If the dishwasher cycle and I can sync up daily, life would be pretty darn good around these parts.
