gulp.

May 2011

Yesterday at the park Henry did some trick and announced, "Mama, I couldn't do this last summer."
My heart thumped and my stomach turned.  "Nope, you couldn't.  You are getting bigger."
Boy, did he look proud.

Miss Sydney is verging on possible piggy tails instead of just a little sprout on the top of her head.
But look here...oh goodness, seeing that crew fuzz style that she went with for a few months of her life, makes my heart stop.

Time flies.
Charley is going to be a second grader.
A second grader.  He is going to birthday parties for friends that are turning 8.
He will turn 8 next fall.

Periodically, with many friends, we discuss the fact that we are no longer the "new moms."
People don't tip their heads at us, rather we find ourselves tipping our heads at new moms thinking, "Aw, to be at that point again, to go back and know that it is okay to relax."
More often, people probably look at us and think, "Those were the days and man am I glad I am not juggling three kids and a cart load of groceries."

This week I can't seem to keep the kitchen counter cleaned up.
I can't seem to get the laundry put away (mind you, it is folded and upstairs!).
I haven't made a meal for our family where we ALL sat down at the same time.

But, I have found moments to soak up this stage.  this season.
I have found moments to catch my breath.
And that's most important,
right?

Today:
Finally, catching up with our ECFE friends.
Then.
Ticking things off the to do list and hoping to stroll the cul de sac with my little walker.
Hoping for a family meal where we light the candle Henry made for me for Mother's day.

You?

We are enjoying a quiet day in the middle of the week. I love it! I am enjoying my one child afternoons, it won't be long and we will be a tribe of 3 every afternoon!

I am trying a new recipe for Pork Chops tonight. Excited to have a good dinner!

Presley is finally rocking the pigtails. I was talking to my stepmom this morning and saying how funny it is that just now I'm finally getting her hair into piggies while Sammy's first ones were at 3 months or so!

We're having a lazy day...playing out in the yard and soaking up the sun.

Such an important perspective to take with me into the weekend.

Love that picture of tiny Sydney from last year! We call that face "tough baby face" here. So cute!
