Why yes, I am wearing that today, just because...

When I was pregnant with Sydney I got sick of just wearing plain t-shirts etc.
And a good friend (Kim) would show up with a scarf on.  Not the warm winter scarf but the light scarf accessory.
It made me envy that she could throw that accessory on and not think anything of it.
She is also great at wearing necklaces, earrings, etc.

When I attempt to put something a little extra on I feel like I am trying too hard.
I feel really self-conscious.
Like people will think, "Where does she think she is going?..."

But I bought a scarf and I wore it.
And I got comfy with it.
And now I put one of my three scarves on from time to time and spice up my boring t-shirt outfit.

So for our Florida trip instead of buying a new top, I bought a new necklace...it was CHEAP!  So don't fret Ed.  And I wore it.  And it was okay.
And today at Target I happened by the sale jewelry and spied this one.

And I bought it.
I put it on this afternoon and both boys had to come running and ask me "What's that?"
Obviously, I don't wear jewelry.

So this is my new fashion challenge.
For some it is earrings, cute hats, lipstick, or trendy belts...
I am going to throw a simple bauble (who knows if I spelled this right?) on every once in a while and see if I can feel as natural as some of my good friends who do it so frequently.

So if you see me at Target with a baseball cap and my black cozy pants on....but you notice something grand hanging around my neck - feel free to chuckle.
Life's too short, ...right?

On a side note...wearing high heels to the zoo with your three kids is just not right.
I say this because every time I am at the zoo there is some lady walking with a stroller and some snazzy high heeled shoes and I can't help but ponder what were her thoughts when getting dressed and packing up the diaper bag...

Very cute! I used to be a little self-conscious about "accesorizing" ...but I just kept forcing myself to do it. I LOVE that I'm not anymore and it really makes me feel better now to throw on a scarf or cool bracelet with my jeans and plain-tee. :) And earrings! :)

Okay, I should follow your lead. I never ever accessorize and yet think it looks so fabulous when other people do. I totally feel like I'm trying to hard and that the accessories come with neon flashing lights that shout IMPOSTER!!! SHE DOESN'T KNOW WHAT SHE'S DOING!

Fun, love that first necklace. Jewelry is fun, I don't remember to put it on much.
The high heels at the zoo, hmm. How high are we talking? Because I can speak from someone who loves heels, I wear heels almost all the time. I haven't ever attempted high heels at the zoo, but hey whatever floats their boat.

Heather, the heels I am talking about seeing at the zoo are the spikey heels one would wear out on the town. Fancy, shiny, stilehetto (spelled wrong) heels.

I love necklaces. Even if I don't wear make up, a necklace always makes me feel better.

That is an awesome challenge!!

There is a woman at preschool who wear stilettos (no joke) and carries her infant carrier over her elbow like a purse. WTH??
