Today our Henry turns 4.
It is January 4th.
So it is his golden.

And a moment I will always remember is when he noticed what was sitting at his table spot.
Daddy was sent out to get a 25 cent gold fish.
Those turned out to be "feeders" and it just didn't seem right for our boy.
So he came home with a beauty.
Big bulgy eyes.
A lovely tail.
And lots of happy energy.

Henry didn't notice him at first.
Then he stood staring at the big vase.
And then when he saw it swimming and realized it was a real fish.
There was an actual intake of breath and then he was breathless -
for a moment.
But I think we took his breath away.

And before daddy set off for work.
The two of them fed the new member of our family.
Just love how intently he was concentrating on this task.

a GOLDfish for today's GOLDEN BOY.

Breakfast was pancakes with sprinkles.
A tricky sparkler candle.
And some whipped cream of course.
love this boy.

He opened a few presents this morning.
One he didn't have to open was one of those giant cardboard coloring houses.
His new clubhouse - open to all who want to visit.
We have been coloring it slowly all day.
Sydney even had lunch in there with him...me too.
And for now...he is chilling in his clubhouse with mama's iPhone.
Life is good.
The kid is content at home.
And that makes me happy.
It is the simple things.
A little old goldfish  (who I hope lasts a week or three).
Some pancakes.
A picnic lunch with his sister.
Some cake decorating this afternoon while he anticipates his brother's arrival.
And then more presents and pizza tonight.

I know a few of you were itching for a peek at the boys day.
Thanks for sending the vibes of happy birthday to our Hankernoodle.
He is loved by so many.
Especially little old me. his mama.

I love how enthralled he is with his fish. Perfect gift! Tot has been asking for a fish non-stop and I'm just too selfish to give it to her (because it will become another thing I have to take care of). Terrible, I know.
