Sanity via glue bottle

The days are long....
The years are short....

Lately the days have been long for me as a mother.  Ed has been working hard, often late or on weekends.  He also treated himself to a golf get away, well deserved.  And I had Grandma Charlie here a few days to tag team with.  But the days do get long.

The other evening I pulled out a craft for us to do and I actually sat down and did it with them instead of getting them started and then unloading the dishwasher.  And it was peaceful, it was calm, and it was enjoyed by all.  Henry got to control his own big boy glue bottle, stock up now while they are $0.25!  I cut a bunch of squares for them to create apple trees with...here in MN it is apple season.

And an evening that was never-ending soon ended too soon.

why is it that we are in such a hurry all the time? I too have found that I stress more when I try to get household chores done and get so frustrated at times that the kids don't just sit down and entertain themselves without me having to step in and play policeman. But when I actually stop what I've been trying so hard to accomplish and do something WITH the kids, I feel so much better. Thanks for sharing.

I think it's so important that kids learn to entertain themselves. It's amazing what a few craft supplies will do!

Love it, Sarah! :) The boys appreciate that fun craft time so much more than clean dishes. Ha!

Love it! From a very non-crafty grandma.
