Works for me Wednesday - tacos and kiddos

I am a huge advocate of letting kids be kids with food.  When they are beginning with food let them get messy - even if it means taking off their clothes and having the bathtub filled.  They figure out spoons, forks, making it into their mouth, and a love for eating if they are given the freedom and the encouragement....that is not to say that I am not one swearing under my breath as I wipe up the mess (or more often it is my husband).

My boys love tacos but tacos can be intimidating because as an adult a lot of the taco ends up back on my plate... so to contemplate letting a child 2-7 years old at one can be a disturbing thought to a mother who will end up with much of their child's taco filling on the floor. We solved that problem, or at least minimized it, by using tinfoil. We wrap the bottom with it and adjust as the children eat. Do you have a solution for taco eating....

Tot loves tacos. We've discovered the awesome trick of putting cheese on the edge of the tortilla and then nuking it for a few seconds. Essentially it creates a glue that keeps it all together.

What a cutie! I should wrap our tacos in foil on the bottom b/c they always ooze. My daughter is such a neat freak I hear "quick, I need a paper towel please" if she so much as gets a yogurt bit on her lip. She's a little OCD for a 3 year old!

We had tacos for supper last night, soft and hard shells, and no matter what, everything was all over my plate and I ended up using my fork. I think I need to start over in life with tacos and try the foil and/or plastic bag! Never too old to learn!
