Back to Reality

Today I am struggling to get back to this reality...

But, last week on Wednesday at noon, Ed and I left the boys with Grandma and headed to the airport.
We flew over this...

And landed here.

For 4 days I didn't drive a car but rather walked almost everywhere... or took a bus, taxi, or the monorail.

It is amazing to visit a place in our country that you have never been...
I can only imagine what it would be like to go overseas.

When your world opens up, you become part of this new environment.

For me, it was Seattle, Washington.

We stayed right downtown - surrounded by skyscrapers.
 Not my normal environment.

But when you return home you think about where you were - you now know another part of the world that is going about the day to day life in a different rhythm...a rhythm that beats to the drum of these:

The concierge is leading other couples to little Italian restaurants in little nooks like this:

The coffee shops continue to brew.
The homeless (and there were far too many) still wander and roam.
The farmer's market sets up shop, draws thousands of people, and then tears down shop for the day.
The waitress at Red Fin serves up sake and ichi rolls.
Life, marches on, pausing for passing buses, cars, and taxis.  People work there, live there, tour there....
I am reminded people are going about life
ALL.
OVER.
THE.
WORLD.

And today, there is a little part of my heart thinking about Seattle.

Looks like you had a great time. It's so nice to escape the daily grind. Sometimes it can be difficult to come hurdling back to reality.

There are so many places in this country that I'm desperate to visit. So many places that are so DIFFERENT than where I live. There's almost no reason to leave the country with all there is to see here. Beautiful pictures and post!

yea! Glad you had a great time. I love Seattle too! My sister lives right downtown on Lake Union, they take the canoe over to the other side for dinner sometimes. It's the life I tell ya :)

Hey, how did you get into my kitchen??? LOL! Actually, I only wish mine were laid out that well. I have a big kitchen, but it's not laid out well. Anyway, I can relate to the chaos. Looks like you had a great vacation. We traveled across country from Memphis to Seattle back in late '91 during a move from TN to Alaska. We stayed a couple of days in Seattle before flying to Anchorage. We had a bright blue Corsica back then and could easily find it from the top of the Space Needle. Haha!
