Be prepared...

As a mom of boys, my life is filled with adventure.
If you are lucky enough to be blessed with a little boy...
...or maybe two or three...
...be prepared to:

...dig in the dirt for worms and build worm houses out of boxes.
...remove grass stains and/or see knees peeking at you through not-so-old pants.
...watch them ride bikes, scooters, ...and anything else with wheels.
...step on the legos that are smattered throughout the house.
...enjoy Tinker Toy contraptions as part of your permanent decor.
...buy stock in band-aids.
...require baths or showers every night in spring, summer, and fall.
...drop everything to move playtime outside or inside.
...pitch millions of wiffle balls.
...have many buckets of "special rock collections."
...give kisses to dirt smudged cheeks.
...pause to watch big trucks.
...find legos and "guys" in your purse and coat pockets.
...hear Star Wars and superhero stories.
...spend 10 more minutes cleaning the bathrooms...they tend to sprinkle.
...find that little boys don't care if there are holes in their socks.
...let them wear their superhero pjs and rain boots to the grocery store.
...find joy in their smiles.
...be in awe of their imaginations.
...be loved.

Be prepared for the ride of your life.

This is a wonderful celebration of boyhood. Our third child, who turns 3 in June, is a boy, and we've noticed and enjoyed the difference. From your list I know I can look forward to more fun memories yet to be made!

FUN! Our little boy is just about to the crawling stage and we can already see a difference. Hurray for little boys!

I think my girls would qualify for about 90% of this list. They'd just be doing it in dresses and snow boots.

Great list...yes some are definitely all boy characteristics.
And to add to the list...train tracks that go on for miles, forts to be constructed and played in.

Found you on UBP, and love your blog! We have a son who's 2 1/2 and still naps. I say he still naps...today he played in his bed for 2 hours instead of sleeping. You can't win them all, I suppose!

Cool post!!! I have no idea how I came to have five boys but I love it!!! I love how they can never do a chore with out spending the entire time try to invent a machine to do the chore so that they never have to do it again... No such thing as just doing the job!!!
