Random Friday Thoughts

It is time for some quick thoughts on our week:

1.  Early to bed ....late to rise!  My boys have been sleeping late and I have been going to bed early.  I am guessing that a full week of 8 am wake times will end tomorrow...when Daddy finally could enjoy a "sleep in" morning.

2.   St. Patrick's day involved green milk, Lucky Charms, and homemade Shamrock shakes....1 cup of milk, 2 cups of vanilla ice cream, some green food coloring, and a tiny splash of mint extract!  Yummy!

3.  The weather was beautiful this week.  The boys rode bikes.  Henry will master our Spiderman scooter this year - I can see it!  He has already started swinging like a big boy.  The entire time he asked to go "IGHER!"

4.  Before he goes down our swing set slide he yells, "Chaout" (sounds like trout).  This means, "WATCH OUT."

5.  Honeyweiss season is around the corner - and this week with the nice weather I enjoyed a few.

6.  Tonight at dinner, after writing about family dinners and picky eaters, Henry tried the main dish and "LIKED IT!" and some edamame and "Liked IT!" WOO HOO!

7.  Before dinner Charley helped me sort laundry, fold laundry, and hang laundry!  Kind of eerie!  But LOVING IT!

8.  The chore I waited all day to do...unloading the dishwasher and then loading it and running it again!  I HATE LOADING THE DISHWASHER but even more than loading it is UNLOADING IT!  THAT I DESPISE! As soon as my boys can handle this chore - I hope to pass it off to them.  That's fair - isn't it!?
9.  Henry had his class today.  He missed the last two weeks.  The entire drive to school he cried that he wanted to go home.  I dreaded the moment of separation...but we played in the kitchen and during circle time he relaxed and looked up at his teachers with idolizing eyes.  And when I knelt down to say I would come back he said, "Kay!"  And he did great!  I am so proud of my bacon and egg fryin' guy!

Thanks for posting the shake recipe! I'm totally going to try it, even if I am a bit late!

I DESPISE loading and unloading the dishwasher. I run it every night before bed and handwash a small load too (fancy knives, pots and pans from supper) and leave to dry on the counter so every morning I walk into the kitchen and cringe. EVERY MORNING. It never eases up, there is never a break...hubby said the other night that maybe we need to develop a fast food addictions, at least then we wouldn't dirty any dishes!

I love the picture collages!! I'm with you on the dishwasher! Thankfully I have a 15 year old that takes care of that. My 5 year old puts away all of the silverware and now my 2 year old is trying to get in in all of the "fun", he usually "helps" with the silverware or he puts away all of the sippy cups. How old are you kids? You should totally try it!

I agree about enjoying the little moments more.........

Guess that's why we get Grandchildren- and to let them do things we wouldn't allow our own children to do!

Yep, unloading the dishwasher is the pits! Mine is full as we speak.

Love the new look of your blog!

Ahhh! I loves me a good before and after shot!

Will you be hiring out Charley? I could use help sorting laundry too.

Oh sweet Sarah!

I love reading your posts! I definitely think passing the dish chore onto your boys, as soon as possible, is more than reasonable! I never did do that and now my "baby boy" is 20 and still doesn't notice dirty dishes ... even when he creates them! His (future) wife may kill me for the way I have spoiled this boy! (On the up side he has a sweet and gentle spirit that more than makes up for his kitchen blindness!) It might make you feel just a bit better in the meantime to note that there are some of us out here who still don't have a dishwasher! :) Yep ... I still do 'em the old fashioned way! Guess I should be grateful for hot and cold running water! LOL!

You've inspired me to get of the computer and go clean up my kitchen - which I plan to make Roo do as soon as she is old enough.

oh thank you...my kitchen looks like your before now. I love it clean but hate the process getting there...at least I have a dishwasher, right? it would be worse without one! not sure how cause right now its bad. I'd have to say I hate washing the floor even more...that's another task I've gotta do today.

Stopped by from FNL...and love your blog!

You're right. It's all about the moments.

(and glad I'm not the only one that hates to unload the dishwasher...)
