Fierce Move #3

Remember this summer when I turned 36 and I did this stunt a week later.

I declared my year of 36 to be a year of fierce moves...maybe even 36 of them.
After water skiing I conquered the Dirty Girl 5K mud run.  There wasn't a lot of running but there was scaling of walls and swimming through mud pits.

A couple weeks ago I conquered my third fierce move.
(I obviously forgot about this goal of 36).

If you knew me growing up you know that I was exposed to lots of athletic opportunities.
My parents signed me up for softball, soccer, basketball and more.
I had Rollerblades, ice skates, cross country skis.

But swimming was the only thing that I seemed to thrive with.
So I swam and I life guarded and I swam some more.

In elementary, middle, and high school I experienced the picked last feeling.
Everyone knew I was slow and not very aggressive.

Back in February I joined the local gym and I have been consistently working out...and one of my workout choices is running.  I started on the treadmill and have taken it outside to the pavement a bit too.   I signed up for a 4 mile race a couple weeks ago with my friend and workout buddy Jessie.

And we conquered it.  We ran the whole way.  That's all I wanted to do.  I don't ever expect to be fast or have a runner's stride.  But I am enjoying the act of running more and more.  And running with a friend on Saturday mornings around a local lake has been such a gift.

Thanks Jessie for keeping my pace, chatting along the way, and motivating me to keep moving.

Fierce move #3...A four mile race completed in 45 minutes.

Oh, and we wore wigs because it was a Halloween themed run!
