"Mothers who know do less. They permit less of what will not bear good fruit eternally. They allow less media in their homes, less distraction, less activity that draws their children away from their home. Mothers who know are willing to live on less and consume less of the world’s goods in order to spend more time with their children—more time eating together, more time working together, more time reading together, more time talking, laughing, singing, and exemplifying. These mothers choose carefully and do not try to choose it all."
Julie Beck
The quote above, found here has haunted me since I read it.
And that is one of the reasons I will never regret my time on Wednesday mornings at our ECFE class where I play with my children without the distraction of media, chores, to do lists, etc. This time is balanced with a chance to connect with other moms and walk out inspired to do better.
When you know better, you do better - I think Oprah said that....and just knowing that we chatted about a parenting topic makes me strive to be more present in the week ahead.

I can send you a link to Julie Becks full talk where that quote came from if you would like. It was amazing. So true. Some things are just too important to let the world get in the way.
