The choice...

Sometimes mowing the lawn is the right choice. It's the choice I made tonight. Which put Ed in charge of bathing a little girl who only napped an hour for the second day in a row, who had a free for all with mashed potatoes and a baby spoon (and the mashed potatoes won) . And let's not forget two over-tired boys. Yep, mowing the lawn is sometimes the better choice for a stay at home mama.

While sitting and enjoying a beer that Ed brought out to me, I watched the second grade neighbor girl turn cartwheels in her front yard. When do you lose the ability to gracefully throw your body into a cartwheel spin and not pull multiple parts of your body out of whack?   For a very very very short moment I felt like going over and giving it a try.

Another neighbor lady drove in from what must have been a long day at work. She has one high school daughter home now. I wonder what the quiet is like in her household. Does she miss escaping to lawn mowing duty....

I slept this morning instead of hitting the gym. Buns that ache tonight from Monday morning's class mean that sleep was the right choice.

Our house is near a fairly busy road and the traffic noise was something we didn't completely notice when we fell for this house. And some might be annoyed by it. But I love that I can tell when the world is waking up, settling in for the night, and it is what it is.

I'm getting cold time to venture back into the warmth of our house. I finally downloaded my pictures from the last 2-3 weeks. Prepare to be bombarded by posts from me...or maybe I will sum it all up in one post. Decisions. Decisions. One thing is for sure, my pjs are calling and the posts aren't happening tonight!

See ya later alligator!

I checked your blog 15 times today at least waiting for you to post something. Ed is wonder dad at night. Funny about cartwheels...so true. If I did one I'd be sore the next day. Also...we also live by a busy road. Sometimes the loud motorcycles are too loud but I also realllly love it. Love hearing the plows ,,meaning it snowed. Love hearing a random car after nursing Hugh...meaning someone had seem where tobe at night. Love hearing the traffic really pick up after 5... The work day has begun.
Can't wait tobe bombarded with pictures! And words. And thoughts. RR

I mow the lawn a lot around here too. It is my escape while the kids are napping. As funny as that sounds

I remember when my oldest was a baby and my mom or mother-in-law would come to visit. They'd offer to cook or help with the laundry, but I'd always want to hand the baby over and do it myself. There was something really appealing about accomplishing a simple task at a time that was dominated by taking care of a little one. In other words, I totally get the lawn thing. :)

And can you believe I could never do a cartwheel? (Hangs head in shame.)

You made one good choice and one that was subpar...mowing (aka..getting away for a while) was a GOOD choice. Honey weiss...well, I would have gone for a super dooper Summer Shandy (currently in stores for your drinking pleasure!)...hahaha!! Just kidding! As long as beer was part of the equation..this dietitian is always supportive!
I often find that I am super willing (almost too willing) to mow the yard as a get away or we do the game of "i'll mow the lawn, jason. Oh no, don't worry about it peggy...i'll do it. No, no..I really don't mind. Please, please, I'll do it when I'm home tonight, Peggy." hahahaha!
