hello monday.

hello "new to Sydney" car seat. Santa brought Henry his new booster, which he has been proudly using for the last week or so. Miss Syd sat so proud in this seat in our living room all weekend. It was her favorite play spot. Today it resides in our car.

hello happy feet.

hello homemade birthday cakes. Aren't they the best. I want my children to remember that mama did her best. I LOVE letting them participate in making their own cake, designing it, or making it for their sibling. I don't go all out with some fancy plan - just whatever comes out at the moment. Henry wanted Harry Potter this year because of a new wii game that Charley got for Christmas. I thought it was silly, since he doesn't know much about Harry. So I found a little lego pack with Harry in it and we added that to our M & M flair.

Hello moment of regret. Henry said all day that he didn't want anyone to sing happy birthday to him. We all thought he really didn't mean it. So he went from this to this in a blink of the eye.  We should have listened.

Hello weekend filled with more moments of getting things done around here balanced with some relaxing and play.

Hello failure at my first goal for the month...waking at 6:00am. Ed attempted to remind me to get up...but Syd's need to see me at 3:30 and 5:30 put a wrench in my desire to pop out of bed at 6:02. I am going to be realistic with myself as we get the whole sleeping through the night thing figured out. Still my goal to wake but not going to cry if I decide to sleep in a wee bit.

Hello little Miss Sydney and her need to NOT nap lately.  We get a decent morning nap, most days.  But the afternoon nap is just not happening and it is killing me.  Busy girl needs to give this mama a moment to fold laundry without a distracted eye on her intense need to investigate every. single. thing.  FOR THE LOVE OF NAPS.

hello readers.  I know you are out there.  I want to figure out how to get you to engage in things here more.  Where are you sitting and reading this post right now...according to my stat thingy...someone might be from New York...or even Germany...Canada...Arizona or just down the road!   Say hello!  It would make me smile.

Hi Sarah! This is Sarah from Boston. I read your blog through my google reader and am not great at commenting. Sydney looks so cute in her big car seat. Goes by too fast! I am only 3 months behind you. Loved reading your posts on implementing the retreat ideas. You inspired me to do it too!

I'm sitting at my kitchen table, kind of cold and thinking about starting a fire. I came here because you came to my blog today! Thanks for visiting me. Your birthday boy reminds me of my Jack. He didn't want a party, he wanted us to take him out to dinner. Then we were going to give him gifts AT the restaurant but he decided he'd rather open them up afterwards in the van. And we didn't sing to him, and it was just a plain chocolate cake. Keep it simple, don't attract too much attention, etc.

i'm from Milwaukee Wisconsin area and read your blog religiously. Maybe more recipes or giveaways/reviews would bring more interaction? Just ideas. I come for it all!

Hi Sarah...I'm sort of down the road. :) Am trying to find time to blog with three children and a newborn...am thinking that should be the new title OF our blog! ha! Life is good. You can feel flattered, in that I stop by your blog almost every day...and often times don't make time to stop by the others on my list. The lives we lead are very similar and it's comforting to know that there are other mamas out there...super mama's who are trudging through the early days of child rearing, loving it most of the time and making the most out of those "other times". Have a great week!

Poor, sweet Henry. Who would really have known he didn't mean it? Not me.

Hello from Fort Wayne, Indiana!! I love reading your blog. We have 2 girls and a boy the same ages as your kiddos. It is fun to see the similarities with the kids (although I must admit we have been sleeping through the night for awhile now- otherwise I would have officially one crazy.)
I have also been thinking about switching my almost 4 year old to a booster, but I'm not confidant she can begrudged outside of the 5 point harness.
Hope you have a great week!

I am writing from a tiny special town in Wisconsin, no snow, but a great lake nearby. I am older but love your blog every single day as well as any/all comments that you receive. Never give up your inspiring words....and the cute photos of your loved ones. I just want to hug the tears away from Henry.

I'm not too far away, either, Sarah--just a few blocks south. I love reading your blog. It inspires me and challenges me and gives me ideas and makes me feel good about how I am doing my job as just the right mom for my own "tribe". I feel encouraged when I read and I look forward to each new post. When I read, I wish that we had so much more time to get together and talk more about all this stuff. I, too, have passed your site on to many other moms. Thank you!

Reading on my iPad from just a few blocks away. Sure glad I forgot to sing happy birthday to Henry when I saw him. So cool that people all over read your blog!

I read your blog every time you post. I stumbled on your blog a few years ago when I was just wandering around the internet looking at how different people wrote and posted.

I really enjoy your writing but I know how it feels sometimes to feel like you are writing in a vacuum.

My current blog is

Hello! I'm in Iowa. I love your family and you inspire me to be a better mom. I have become terrible about commenting since I'm usually sneaking a peak at 'my' blogs while I'm also doing something else (fixing dinner, etc). Right now I need to be hopping in the shower so I'm ready for my three boys when they wake up in a few...

Hi Sarah, even though I don't comment too often and run out of time these days to do housework, I make time to read your blog every day! I LOVE it and love to show my kids your kids' pictures and hear how you are doing. Sydney is growing so fast and getting so cute! Your boys remind me of my 2 older girls and Amber's 4th b-day was January 2nd and she didn't even blow out her candles (didn't want too - pretty stubborn!). Have a great week! Jamie Trampe
