I Blog for my Memory

Memory... is the diary that we all carry about with us.  ~Oscar Wilde, "The Importance of Being Earnest"

Those mothers who have gone before me and raised their miracles
know that it passes too quickly.

Those mothers who have gone before me know that someday I will wish I remember more.

Those mothers who have gone before me know that motherhood is about balancing the feelings of enjoying the "right now" stage and the feelings of anticipation for the next stage.

Those mothers that have gone before me and stop me in the grocery store and tell me that these are the best days of my life - and someday I will REALLY understand this...Thank you!

I blog.
I blog for the memories.
I want them to be there when my heart swells and is overwhelmed that this time of raising little ones has passed.

I blog for the memories as well. I heard someone recently refer to their blog as a modern day scrapbook. I love that. Its exactly how I feel about it.

I have two kids, almost 4 and 2 and I already feel like I've screwed up. I didn't enjoy so many moments with them, too hurried to get onto the next stage.

I want another baby so I can do it right. Record every moment. Bottle every smell. Be there in the moment.

It is one of the biggest joys of blogging - to know that things are out there somewhere, for my kids to one day look at and to help me jog my memory :) I'm not a scrapbooker, so this is it!

Wow. *sniff* I have two blogs and neither of them is a "blog for the memories" kind of blog, although I do occasionally post personal thoughts and/or pictures. So, I will be able to look back on those things some day. But, still, I never really thought about blogging in that way, so thank you.

By the way, my oldest is almost "sweet sixteen". The time really does go by too fast!

While I don't really blog for the memories, when I look back through past posts I see that I have captured a lot of where I was at at those different weeks and months. Still, for me I blog for the connections, the sharing of ideas and the hope that together we are better parents than in isolation.

How DO we balance enjoying today's stage while anticipating the next? It's so so DIFFICULT.
