Things I love Thursday: Farm Fresh Eggs

Charley has a buddy who lives out on a good chunk of land where they will give raising chickens a try.  We got to visit the chickens yesterday during his playdate.

On the way to pick him up the last few months I drive by a farm that has a sign out front that says Eggs.  Every time we pass by, I write the phone number down and about a week ago I finally stopped PROCRASTINATING and called.

Yesterday we picked up three dozen eggs straight from the farm where the chickens run around happy as can be!

I am hoping to ask the farmers for a little tour of the chicken coop...once they realize that we are committed customers.

I don't do everything perfectly healthy in our house.  I also don't do everything organic.  But the two things that I am firm on are the eggs and milk.  The little bit I have read and heard leaves me feeling better when I know that our milk and eggs have come from cows and chickens that are raised happy and healthy - not modified, shot up with antibiotics, cramped in pens, filled with hormones (that some say are part of the cause of young girls maturing faster).

So from now on we will be supporting a local farmer and enjoying farm fresh eggs!

Wow I wish I had a farm near by. I'm sure I could find one if I actually looked. I just may well do that. Thanks for the inspiration. I hear you about milk and eggs, its all organic for us on those to food topics.

Have you seen Food Inc?

hmmm. For me, a lot of times "organic this and that" go in one ear and out the other. But I am definitely going to try to do milk and eggs. You make it sound so easy. Just two things? I think I can do that! Thank you for this post.

It's great that you have a farm nearby! After finally watching Food, Inc., I don't think I'll every be able to purchase non-organic meat, dairy, or eggs again. It was BRUTAL! I haven't eaten meat since I watched it! Love the pics. with the chicks! ;)

I've been thinking of joining a local program here that supports local farming. I am just inches away from my own farm fresh eggs. Yum!

Fresh eggs are the best. Lucky you for having a farm like that so close to home. I am contemplating signing up to have local fruits and veggies sent home to me every so often in a big box. There are so many good reasons to do it, but I have been procrastinating about doing it...
Found you at Anti-Procrastination Tuesday.

How nice that you have a farm so close to where you are! I need to investigate the options in my area. I'd love to buy from a local farmer. Thanks for the inspiration... :)

Hey! I'm over here from UBP. I read your About Us page, but I didn't see a place to comment so I thought I'd have a look around. Landed on this particular post, because I'm a "foodie," and I buy farm fresh eggs and raw milk as well! Feels so good to know those things (at least) are CLEAN and nutritious for my family.

I also wanted to say that I love your blog title and the overall LOOK of your blog. Good getting to know you...
