Happy Monday

It is the first day of the first full week of summer.
We have a pretty open week, which means the possibilities are endless.
This weekend we worked on this summers bucket list, which we will share later this week.
But you can see 2011 and 2012 here.

We have already knocked off the zoo, the farmers market, and a bonfire.
We keep our bucket list filled with big and small.  simple and complex.  home and out and about.
It is something that helps motivate me to get us out the door and do something -when sometimes three kids on my own can see intimidating.

This weekend we made ribs on the grill for the first time.  Success.  (Thanks for costco for the prep)
We cleaned the garage.  A ten minute pick up Sunday night before bed has us all feeling lighter this morning.  I decided not to go to the gym this morning and instead sat and got a few blog ideas down and ready for the week.

Syd is giving us a run for our money.
The third kid phrase "Just give it to her."  is flying out all of our mouths WAY too easily.  And even though it might be the easiest solution right now...a 16 year old having grown up hearing "Just give it to her."  will be incredibly disappointing and scary.  So this week I am slowing down, getting down at her level, and having the patience to work through the tantrums.  There is no reason she needs to have her way ALL. THE. TIME.  It will be exhausting.  But to get this under control will mean a lot for us and her.  The brothers will be in on this too.  It has to be a family mission.

This week the boys will begin their summer swim lesson journey.
They are both excited, and so am I.
Syd is at a different age and stage and I know getting a pool excursion under our belt will make a huge difference in my confidence...but right now, I know how important it is to have them fresh with their swim skills.

I am really going to try to capture some of the little things we keep busy with, especially here at home, and share them on the blog.
My cousin posted a picture of her success taking logs and making them into that cute tic tac toe game with the lady bug rocks I posted for a summer project idea.  So impressed.  Taking pinterest ideas and making them happen is huge, and having them turn out is even better.  Sometimes it just takes seeing someone you know accomplish it to realize that it isn't out of your reach.

This week the weather might actually get warm enough to say it is summer.
My hopes:
We will make ice cream together.
We will get through swim lessons.
We will take a bike ride to a park.
We will see a friend or two.
We will get rolling on summer notebooks and chore charts.
We will sign up for the summer reading program.
We will keep snacking on the veggies I prepped yesterday.
We will just be.

What's up with you this week?

your blog keeps me motivated to do things as a family and not just pass by these days. chore charts and structure is important and the reminder that play is equally important is there too. so thank you. how did syd do around the fire? email me! RR
