Good Morning! Happy Saturday to you!
Yes, folks, we got our tree up and decorated.
And now it's time for some rambles....
I told myself I would keep it simple on here and post more often to get my momentum going because it feels good to write again.
Loved this quote from Glennon Melton's book, Carrier On Warrior, page 24-25:
"If, anywhere in your soul, you feel the desire to write,
please write. Write as a gift to
yourself and others. Everyone has a
story to tell. Writing is not about
creating tidy paragraphs that sound lovely or choosing the “right” words. It’s just about noticing who you are and
noticing life and sharing what you notice.
When you write your truth, it is a love offering to the world because it
helps us feel braver and less alone. And
if you’re a really, really bad writer, then it might be most important for you
to write because your writing might free other really, really bad writers to
have a go at it anyway. Kind of like how
watching Sister’s confusing lurching on the dance floor finally got me out of
my seat at my cousin’s wedding. Because
I thought, Well if she’s allowed to keep
dancing, certainly no one’s going to call me out.
On my deathbed, I’m not going to wish I had danced like JLo;
I’m just going to wish I had danced more. "
So I am doing it. Right, Raina?
Have you seen this version of the holiday classic Little Drummer Boy?
If you like the kid app "Endless Alphabet", my friend Lynelle shared there is a new one that is free right now called "Endless Reader" ...it works more with words that are in the beginning reader/sight word level. I haven't looked too closely yet. But sounds like a winner to me! And don't forget about Nighty-Night.
It is so cold here. Why is it this cold so early in the season? It makes going out so icky. Not sure how to attack the weekend ...stay cooped up or venture out and risk the bitter cold.
This week, Syd peed on the potty, on her own, one time! Yipee! I am about ready to make the leap with her. Last kid to potty train. sigh.
Our couch is only mounded with three loads of laundry to be folded. Progress.
Ed travelled to South Dakota and Nebraska this week for work. So much travel in such a short amount of time and with snow and cold on top of it. With weekends so busy this time of year, I am sure he is craving a lazy Saturday morning at home.
This year we didn't put holiday lights up on our house and that's okay. Ed says he knows where the door hangy thingy for the wreath. woo hoo! Still haven't ordered/bought any holiday gifts. But St. Nick...a Wisconsin thing, I think, did visit our house on December 6th. He graced Syd's stocking with the Princess Sophie music cd and it plays in our car and brings smiles to us all.
I just got the save the date notice for my high school's class reunion. It has been 20 years! Holy cow!
Today is your Saturday to do with as you please. Your attitude is your choice and can turn your ordinary Saturday into an extraordinary one ...even while keeping it simple, staying in your pjs, and doing nothing out of the ordinary. And maybe that, my friends is the secret to finding your merry.
What will you be doing this cold Saturday?
