Our Monday adventure

This has been happening a lot this summer.  Charley always enjoys reading before he falls asleep at night, but he hasn't been one to pick up a book and devour it during the day, unless he finds a really good book he loves.  I have been waiting for it to happen though more consistently.  And this summer he has been curling up, sprawling out, or hunkering down with a good book.  He lugs it to swim lessons for entertainment while he waits for his brother and sister.
So this morning he was itching to replenish our book supply and I was itching to get a little workout in.  So we combined things and biked to the library.

And I am so proud of them.  Espcially, this guy down here.  He rides a bike with no gears and he is 6.  And with a good wind in his face on the way home.  With a good chunk uphill....we made a 4.5 mile loop to the library, park, and home.  Seeing a few friends along the way was a bonus :)

This summer I am challenging us to have some no car days.  And so the boys have been making a list of the things we could do even without a car.  And parks, the library, and the pool are all on our list!  Now we just need to make one of those "no car days" happen!

Today, we made it home for lunch.  Some free time. And now everyone is in their own space for a little quiet time.  Cheers to a great start to the week!

Love the library, love it when kids want to read. Can't imagine biking to the library, but fun to bike somewhere.

Great post Sarah! Is Charley making a list of all the books he's reading? Such a fun thing to look back on. What is he reading these days anyway?
